How much does My Old House cost?

Nothing at all. My Old House is totally free to use.

What details do I need to provide to register?

To register you need to provide a valid email address and your name. You will also need to choose a password to protect your account. You can choose whether or not to receive our monthly newsletter - you can unsubscribe at any time.

Why do I need to provide my email address?

After you have completed the registration form we will send you a confirmation email to the address you supplied on the registration form. You need to click a link in that email to confirm your email address is valid. This is to prevent people from abusing the service by registering with fake email addresses and possibly posting false information.

Will I receive emails I don't want (spam) from using My Old House

We firmly believe in your privacy. You can read our Privacy Policy here. One of the main aims of My Old House is to allow old friends and neighbours to make contact with each other. When you add yourself to a property, an envelope will be shown next to your name. Other users of My Old House can click on this envelope and send you a contact email. Their message will be sent via our system. At no point will the user know your email address. Please note, if you choose to reply to the sender, you will reveal your email address to them.

Doesn't that mean people will send me spam?

This is very unlikely. You have to be a registered user of My Old House to send contact emails to other members and there is a strict limit to the number that can be sent each day. We also keep a daily count, and a total count, of all contact emails sent by members (We do not keep a record of the content of the emails).

Using My Old House to send spam would be a slow and tedious method and it is highly unlikely anyone would bother to use the service for that purpose.

What do I do if I believe I have received spam because of My Old House?

If you think you have received spam as a result of using My Old House, please let us know as soon as possible and we will look into it and take any action required to prevent it happening again. You can contact us at abuse@myoldhouse.co.uk
